Once again my opinion has nothing to do with Kerry.
But I don't remember hearing him say he was going to stop funding on non-human stem cells I only recall him saying he would increase Embryonic stem cell research to $100 million.
If I heard him wrong I stand corrected but I don't believe he said that.
And I really don't care how long it takes as long as we try.
This subject could go on forever and we'd still have the same position on stem cell research so let's voice our opinion by voting!

I'm glad we're together on the whole process of ivf and the whole picture but I didn't say it should be ended I was asking why shouldn't they be able to research something that they planned on destroying in the first place. Regardless how it was created it's already there! How can a man have mor$100 per year for embryonic stem cell researche compassion for something in a petri dish than the millions of people suffering. Research on embryonic stem cells has not stopped in the US or around the world. Most of the information I have seen recommends that both adult and embryonic stem cell research should be done. So while the NIH is providing $190.7 million for human non-embryonic stem cells in FY 2003, $24.8 million for human embryonic stem cell research; the private sector and other countries continue funding embryonic stem cell research. http://www.hhs.gov/news/press/2004pres/20040714b.html
Kerry has promised $100 million per year for embryonic stem cell research. hasn't said anything about funding for human non-embryonic stem cells. So is he going to decrease overall federal stem cell research funding by $114.5 million?
Human non-embryonic stem cells are already being use for some diseases. Umbilical cord blood is already showing results as a source for pluripotent stem cells. http://www.stemcellresearch.org/facts/index.html
I know Bush won't change his mind and I admire the way he stands solid on his beliefs and odds are he'll be here for 4 more years I just wish he would take a look around and see how much this could accomplish. I'm not really concerned about my situation, I've come to the conclusion this research most likely won't be able to prop me up but what about the kids? Besides John Edwards, If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is President, people like Christopher Reeve will get up out of that wheelchair and walk again. Is there any scientist or researcher that clams NIH funding of $100 million per year for embryonic stem cell research alone will make this a reality within 8 years?
