We have searched high and low and been all over the country trying to resolve Gabe's pain. He lived in hell-a moaning sleep was the best for his 1st year.  These are just a few things we found.

The baclofen pump is implanted in the abdominal wall and a small tube carries the baclofen directly to the fluid surrounding the spine- bathing the spine in baclofen. It is so much better then oral baclofen.  Gabe couldn't stand to wear pants or have anything on his arms before the pump.

Zoztrix (capsasin lotion-name brand only) works well for neuropathy. According to Gabe's doc it breaks down the chemical pain message. You have to use it for at least two weeks before you have any benefit. Then use it 4 times a day faithfully

Subject: [QUAD-L] Pain...

Jerre...

You aren't alone.  I have pain that is horrible AND seems to be related to my position.  I'm tall and as I sit, my back curves.  I imagine it's now permanently curved.

I *do* notice that the majority of the "positional pain" is in my lower back and side ... right where the curve is most pronounced and where the bulk of my upper body weight strains the lower vertabrae.

I also have the hyperasthesia and other neurogenic pains.  Often, just the breeze blowing the hairs on my arms makes them feel on fire.

Unfortunately, short of a few too many beers, I haven't found anything that really works.  Baclofen, valium, neurontin, hydromorphone, ibuprofen, and a beer or two makes it bearable.  And how I still manage to function mentally.... that's still a mystery. (lol)

(But I'll bet stuntman may simply suggest I don't....
         ...function, that is... LOL!)

Wishing the best...
    Tod

(and lemme know if you find something that works)
