I'm extremely interested in this thread. I am currently in the process of purchasing a new van. I approached a individual who modifies the vans (happens to be a quadriplegic) and he is supposed to be checking on all of the particulars. According to what I've been told over the last two months, the federal government has started to put many requirements on the modification of disabled vans. Anyway, everybody seems to think the only man that I could use is a Ford 250 (or equivalent Chevy, Dodge).
I would like to know how tall you are in your chair Eric. I sit in my current chair 57 inches high and have to lean into my present van in order to gain access. I have looked at a few of the minivans, but the majority of people seem to think I am too big to be in a minivan.

They stand by their products. When I first got my van, I had trouble
with the suspension bottoming out. They came and picked up my van, left
me a loaner for a week, fixed the suspension, and brought my van back
free of charge. You don't get that kind of service for wheel chairs.
Explain that to me. Anyway they took off the stock suspension and put
on brand new suspension that I was told was heavy duty. It could not be
the heavy duty suspension for the van. The shocks and springs must have
been for a light truck. The stuff was new, but from as high as the rear
end of my van was it couldn't be for a mini van. Anyway, I was
impressed with their service. The reason my suspension was bottoming
out was because I have a very heavy chair plus the! weight of the
ventilator, plus the weight of the ventilator battery.
