I want to thank everyone for their input. I use a one to 10 bleach solution to clean my bed bags. The problem I am having is that my urine is so strong it is permeating through the bed bag I use on the side of my chair and through the freezer ziplock bag I have over the bed bag. It is also making its way through the fabric cover that I have are aesthetic purposes decided to use to cover my bed bags. The other night my brother notice the stoma (I have a suprapubic) had a horrible stench coming from it. I have had some improvement when not drinking any Mountain Dew and only a little bit of green tea in addition to my normal supply of water. I will try the acidic acid solution and let everyone know. Once again I really do appreciate the input, especially considering that I have continued to address this situation to ad nauseam.

PS no I do not plan on drinking the stuff. :-)Dana Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
I hope he did not want you to drink the stuff? Anyway, I have noticed that
if there is any bleach left over in a leg bag or bedside bag, it can smell
quite rank. I use one half bleach, one half water solution to clean my
bedside bag. I cath into a urinal and should there be a bit of bleach in
there left from cleaning, the smell is horrible.
The number of UTI's I have had has dwindle to just about nil since storeing
my used catheters, I self cath, in a very mild bleach/water solution. Then
boil for 20 minutes, air dry for 24 hours and then put in a ziplock--un
zipped, to use again.
When I do get a bad uti, it will smell strong. I have not had a problem
with consistant odor tho.
