Must I remind people that poor people don't pay taxes, therefore no TAX REFUNDS; the increase in entitlemenents for the poor and disabled may not be as much as we want it to be be but the groups of entitlements including illegal aliens, alcoholics, drug addiction...etc is steadily increasing and the middle and upper middle class are busting their balls to maintain their lifestyles for the time, schooling and energy they have put in.  As long as Congressman don't pay into soc sec and loophles are left for the very rich(laws made by congress) entitlements(ssdi, medicare, medicaid, etc) will never get their fair share. ACLU is trying to add obesity plus their children on ssdi. Kids of alcoholics and addicts already recieve assistance with checks issused in care of the parent w/problem.
A congressman makes more in his first year of retirement tnan 90% of retirees their life time.  Who supplies them with these golden parachutes, we tax payers, but you never hear it come campaign time.  Why in the world do we expect them to correct the problem when it doesn't affect their families or cronies??

My tongue hurts from biting it so I'll stop torturing myself and just
say it. The issue of illegal "aliens" is a separate issue, certainly
these individuals use precious resources that we citizens need.
However, the medicaid cuts are a direct result of the tax cuts your
president wishes to make permanent, tax cuts that do nothing to help
the middle class and the poor. Republican and Democrat governors alike
are decrying the injustice of cutting money for the neediest of
citizens.

I have to say "I told you so" on this one. I'm glad I don't get
Medicaid.

Concerning the "illegal alien" issue, I grew up valuing the principles
of taking care of those who are less fortunate than myself. If there
are people in this country, legal or not, and they are in need of
medical care and food, it's my responsibility to see that we care! for
them. AND we all know that the profiteers WANT illegal workers, as
they require pennies on the dollar in wages, no taxes, no FICA, and no
workers comp. So, they too are victims in this situation. The
borders, immigration, and police authorities look the other way when
confronted with these workers and their families. One reason for the
tragedy of 9/11 is the lax attitude and inept immigration system.
