Cool idea on the grass thing. If we stay in the SW ... We'll put in Bermuda grass (green in summer ... no water needed. goes dormant in winter and is light brown).
Also that's what's happening here ... road widening.
Maybe you'll invite me up :-) But getting my husband to drive to Phoenix is like building an exact replica of an Egyptian Pyramid.
I do hope to get to Canyon Lake in Apache Junction before it gets too hot. Have a picnic down by the water. We drive up through Florence and get to AJ in an hour and 40 minutes ... not bad.
I forgot which burb you moved into. Chandler?

The street improvements are a hassle. They are widening all the streets around here. But I'm surprised how green AZ is. Around here almost all developments are surrounded by greenbelts. Used for water runoff, etc. accross from my house is a T shaped greenbelt that is all grass, surrounded by trees and bushes. During the hevey rains it totally fills with water and I have lake front property for a few days. Our HOA rules say everyone must have 25% grass in the front yard and at least 2 trees.
HOAs can get bad, but they do keep your neighborhood looking nice.
