When daughter was living with me, my
Medicare/HMO gave me 49 hours of PCA care, one visit a week from a nursing
agency to check my wounds, and two home visits a year if I chose not to make a
personal office visit from a doctor.
Now that my 18-year-old daughter no longer lives
with me, they have decreased my hours to 42 hours for PCA care.
I live alone in a three-bedroom ranch in a West
suburban area of Chicago. They told me that if I get another roommate or
rent out a room, they will return my 49 hours. Go figure.
