Karen,

I also use the magic bullet and am able now to do it while I am on my shower chair. I'm paralyzed from the top of my torso down. I used to lay on my side in bed and cross my right leg over my left.  That worked really well for me.  The magic bullet is the best brand because it is water based verses oil bases like the other brands.  You can order them from this link.  http://www.allegromedical.com/home/Search.asp  They are the cheapest being a 100 for $45.  They work out cheaper than the generic ducolax for me.

Good luck,
Stacy

i am an incomplete and i have some feeling.  my left hand doesn't work but i can move my thumb and index fingers on my right a little.  how long has been paralyzed?  has he tried doing his own BP yet?  does he have all the equipment? (stimmer, suppository inserter)  i'm assuming he uses a suppository, i use a magic bullet suppository every other day.  you may be able to use the cheaper version of the magic bullet but it didn't work for me.  if you give me your address i'll send you an almost full box of the generic brand.  does he have pretty good use of his triceps?  i only have a little use of my triceps so lean i on my bed  to insert the suppository.  tell him to make sure his brakes are locked.  he doesn't want to get stuck laying on the bed and his chair roll out.  i think the most important thing about doing your own BP is to get enough fiber along with plenty of water.  getting lots of fiber and not drinking enough water will constipate you.  when i 1st started trying to do my own BP i was always having to get someone to stem me.
i've gotten a method down for doing a lot of things.  i do my own BP, shower, dress myself, i can open a can of tuna and make a tuna sandwich and this is ALL while i'm at home alone during the day.  people think i'm lying all the time when i tell them all i can do, just because i look helpless.

he just has to start trying and find out what works
 for him.

How are you able to do your own bowel program?  Are you an incomplete?    Give more detail.  My son is a complete C6/7 and wants to figure out how to do his own.  Currently he has nurse who stims with him trying before she moves in.   He can’t find the hole himself and can’t tell what is there etc.   Thanks, Karen
