I used a condom cath for 30 yrs. with absolutely no problems. A few leaks 
and a rare uti. about five years ago my output began to dwindle, my abdomen 
ached, and I felt like hell warmed over. I went  through 5 hospital stays to 
kill rare and vicious creatures in  my bladder. High fever, hallucinations, 
multiple misery. Through trial and error, we established a   routine of cath 
twice a day using a new cath each time. Re-use led to re-infection every 
time. I still have bouts of abdominal pain, but infections are rare. I still 
don't know why my bladder decided to die.
