One of my nurses when I was doing my rehab is now a director of the spinal cord injury unit and she was telling me what insurance companies are paying for rehab now. It's absolutely criminal. She said the percentage of patients returning with pressure sores and other health problem just keeps climbing. You'd think with all the statistical data that insurance companies collect, they would see a link.

I am more prone to believe in everything I read, until proven wrong. Who would consider hanging in this ward..... Without a good reason. I've been to Shepherd, Kessler, Craig and Rio Rancho. I still favor Chicago's RIC. Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN, was the very first hospital in the USA, to establish a "spinal cord injury unit" for returning Korean Vets and they were jointly
responsible for building and funding RHI on the WestSide on 38th street.
I've met so many people who did their critical care and rehab in some pretty small hospitals in small towns. Comparing their treatment with that in a major teaching
hospital continues to amaze me. I've also heard some very sad stories too.
Its not getting better with government insurance only paying for 30+ days vs 120- 160 days as in the past. Insurance will pay for out patient services vs in hospital
therapy. That is truly a shame.
So I will continue to believe....until I get old, tar'd and distemper'd, lol.
