I continue my best wishes in your success Martin, as I have limited knowledge on the very process, and it can be very scary.  Just consider the Gyro-Wheelchair and how long it took before it was allowed to be sold and the price.
We have 3-4 Major players in North America, which has formed a powerful group known as
RAMPS, and have some input as to what is approved.

Pride Mobility
SunRise Medical
InvaCare

Most of their products are produced off shore, using metric designs, before coming into North America, and sold to the consumers. Product Liability, prevents the user from fixing, adjusting or repairing their own products, during any warranty periods.
So a lifetime warranty is important, but only if the end-users (Quads) can find someone to take their personal chairs apart to replace frames and reassemble them properly again.

My suggestion, that during your continuing process of developing your chair, you sign up with Pride Mobility's Website as a guest (its free) and listen from others, who are "world" end-users about their ideas and complaints, regarding the established market and all its natural faults.  Who knows, you might learn a few more things.  To register, go to:
www.pridemobility.com  and sign up.
Now you won't be able to market your product there, but, by observing some of the comments... you will learn.
Anyone else who wishes to register, may also.  Pride Mobility, is the only major manufacturer that has an active board like this.

Again, Best Wishes and Much Success
