Hey all
Thank you
for interest and ideas you guys have, especially by a wise friend
Wheelie. You guys had a few questions for me,
so let
me try and answer them:
FDA: I am
currently busy with the “Pre market Notification [51O(k)] Application
for
Mechanical and Powered Wheelchairs, and Motorized Three--Wheeled
Vehicles”. In South Africa we only have
a SABS (South African bureau of standards) and currently don't have a
standard
or documents for the requirements of electric wheelchairs.
So after the FDA process I will create a set
of standards for the South African bureau of standards, there are no
electric
wheelchair manufacturers in South Africa thus there are no standards.
If anybody
knows anything about how the FDA works, please shout as I will
definitely need
help!
USA distribution
point: I have not given much
thought
to this yet as I think it is rather pointless without FDA approval, but
this is
definitely something that I will need... So once again if any of you
have any
ideas please let me know.
Parts, Service: everything used on our chairs
are readily available anywhere in the world, my design philosophy was
to keep
it simple, durable, strong, comfortable and robust. Every
aspect of the chair except for motors and controls are
handmade. The frame is hand bent from
square tubing, I offer a lifetime guarantee on all my frames.
Controls = Dynamic
