Gratefully my
kidneys have been fine. Unfortunately I have been recently diagnosed
with "bladder stones" and there are several of them that are good-sized [4cm-the biggest].
They can not use lithotripsy on bladder stones because the
pelvic bones get in the way for an accurate zapping.
I have been
battling urinary tract infections for almost 2 years and just thought I
had been on the wrong antibiotics. I finally went to a urologist who insisted on me having a CAT scan
of my kidneys, ureters, and bladder. I expected everything to be
negative but, unfortunately,
the results are
these big sized stones.
I guess they are
the medical textbook reasoning as to why I kept getting those bladder
infections and they kept coming back. Proteus and Pseudomonas like to
encapsulate themselves so they are probably doing just that into the
stones.
I am
not worried about the procedure itself. I am just worried about
everything triggering my autonomic dysreflexia. More-so
'post-procedure' than during the procedure. But I now have at-home
medications that will bring my blood pressure down quickly. I did not
have those after my cystoscopy in 1992 when I thought I was going to
die from bouts of autonomic dysreflexia.
I have two speak
with an anesthesiologist to see whether he is just as comfortable with
giving me a spinal rather than having to go fully under anesthesia.
I know that I have asked
several of you a couple months ago about your experiences. Now that I
am going to have it done ... I welcome any more comforting suggestions.

[QUAD-L] kidney stones
Who on the list has had kidney
stones and what treatment did you recieve? I had some removed through
surgery a few years ago and now I have more stones. I've been putting
off going back to the Dr. since August because I'm afraid of surgery
again. They are to big for electric zaps......any suggestions? Can I
get into trouble by leaving them and doing nothing.
