River, what happened to you should not have happened period.  Its important that I say that because when it comes to medical issues, it can be a very personal thing and I'm on a "Need to Know" basis.

When anyone suspects that they have a broken "anything" the emergency room is the first place to go.  Let the ER specialist do what they do best.  Waiting to make an appointment with a doctor days after, doesn't seem right to me.

If I was "Any Doctor" who's patient decided to hold me responsible for a broken "anything" days after it occurred, would scare the medical hell out of me.

When office doctors who work on scheduled appointments have to wait days after a bone is broken and festered or complicated, could be held responsible for damages.  Who would want that responsibility?

Why didn't you just go to the emergency room?  Or maybe you did.... I don't know.

Best Wishes

I'll try to keep this short. I recently broke my leg and 4th metatarsal. I didn't know I had broken them until two or three days after it happened.
