We would move to Texas [a Houston suburb] next month if we thought we could handle the humidity.  I know that there must be dozens of quads in the Houston area and so many more in the entire state because the state is so big.  But because us quads can get overheated so quickly ... I always wondered how they were able to handle that "oppressive heat" there in the summers that only Florida can beat.

Besides stay inside day and night!  Even in Arizona in the summer here ... we have to stay indoors for the most part all day long but at least the mornings and evenings drop significantly in temperature whereby humid states do not.

I absolutely love the heat [here in Arizona it is in the hundreds three months out of the year but it is a dry heat] .  Even when I lived in New York State .. there are weeks out of the summer that are unbearably hot night and day [because of the humidity] but it can not hold a candle to the heat in Texas!  And if it is not the heat ... the bugs can eat you alive.

I also have asthma that is triggered by humidity and dog dander.  My husband is having a problem with heat here and because he lived in Houston for 10 years ... he doesn't think he would be able to stand that type of heat again.  So we have to reconcile wherever we decide to move.

Obviously everyone gets used to it [like people in Minnesota or Canada or elsewhere get used to the extreme bitter cold] but I don't think we are going to end up in Texas simply because of the humidity and neither of us being able to handle it.

Like you, the housing prices are very appealing to us AND THAT is why we would like to move [to be able to own a home by affording it] and we have fell in love with a house two hours north of Houston.

We aren't considering any border towns in Texas because of the many problems that go along with being a border town [Tucson is one of them].  But that is just us.

Everyone who is from Texas or who has lived there quite a while ... absolutely loves everything about the state except for the weather.  My husband learned that type of feeling when he lived there for 10 years.  But when he lived there ... everything was going good.  He then moved to New York state to marry me, got a job there, and the rest is history.

Also, the biggest, and one of the best, medical complexes in the nation [if not the world] is located in Houston, Texas.

We are looking to move also [and have been for 2 years] but fate will have to lend a hand.

Subject: [QUAD-L] South Texas

Does anyone live in south Texas, i.e., Brownsville, Harlingen, McAllen? We are considering a move, perhaps to that area and wondered about wheelchair accessibility, both in housing and public buildings/areas, ease of finding attendants, etc. I did notice that housing was VERY affordable (not sure why), which is a plus if we need to remodel. I'm assuming it's just like any other areas -- but any information, good or bad, would be helpful.
