So true Lori.  By the time, we know we have osteoporosis, it is too late.  I also feel.  I sit up much straighter and aligned much better in my Permobile and I check my posture in a full-length mirror also .  I did not have good insurance and Medicaid would not pay for the standing frame when suggested, when I was at rehab for an evaluation through the state in 1988. I was put on Fosamax for my osteoporosis when one osteoporosis was tested for four years ago .  My femur was broken by an aide pulling my leg too far during range of motion exercises three years ago and then my humerus was broken in two years ago , so my doctor put me on a daily injection called forteo that has increased my dexis score a tiny bit as Fosamax and done nothing.

Does anyone else, take forteo or anything else for osteoporosis?  Just wondering.

The easiest way to check your posture and see exactly how you sit in the chair [WITHOUT cheating and trying to sit up straighter... just act normal] is to sit sideways in front of a full-length mirror and see what your upper spine, shoulders and neck are looking like.

Secondly, because of my neck fusion... many physical therapists and rehab doctors [a long long time ago] have commented to me that I had that "humped-over" look.  And they were right.

I just noticed so much of a difference with my current wheelchair seating in the Permobile.

Go look at your profiles today!  If you are female and are thinking that osteoporosis has not started yet... you possibly might want to think again.  It is an irreversible condition.

We saw a commercial once for marketing a drug that is supposedly helped prevent osteoporosis in those who have ALREADY have the common look.  The commercial, like so many commercials just to sell a product, was quite misleading.  It might help FURTHER progression of the disease but what has already occurred is NOT reversible.
