Friday I went out on my daily rides in my chair and got a flat. I was about a mile away, going through gravel, bump-bump-bump, got to the concrete and it kept going bump-bump-bump. I knew something was wrong. I had to call home to get picked up. I called the place my new insurance makes me use and they said first they would need a prescription… So I call the doc and finely get through to them to fax in a prescription. Then the repair place says they need to get an ok from the insurance, minimum 24 hours… It’s Friday, I tell them. Sorry, they tell me, no openings anyway. I beg, saying I’ll pay and send the bill in… They say no… Even if there was an opening, because of the contract they have with the insurance company, they can not deal with me with cash, no matter what. Lets say I was not very happy with them.

I had to call many places before I found a place that could get me in that had a spare inner tube.

I ended up getting inserts instead of tubes. Hard foam or rubber inserts that go inside the tire, you do not add air, just slip the tire on. Very cool, never flats again. It’s nice, because today I was on a long sidewalk that at the end had glass all over. Instead of going way back, I just road right over.
