I use this
feature all the time so it is very important to get it fixed. I called
Apria here in Tucson
and a repair man said that he could come out to look at it the following
day. I asked
him specifically if he needed a doctor's
prescription to be faxed over and he said "No, definitely not just to
look at it. But later when we have to order the parts and fix
it." So I made the
appointment.
He never showed,
no one ever called, nothing! He was supposed to be to my house between
1 p.m. and 3 p.m.. At 2:50 p.m. I called Apria and they told me that I
had to speak with scheduling in Phoenix.
I did so and the lady said "You need a doctor's prescription for
that."
I was livid!!! I asked her when they were
going to tell me this, how long were they going to just leave me hanging,
etc. etc. etc.. All that she offered was "he is new with the
company and did not know." So does that warrant not calling the
customer or doing anything??? She did not even apologize for
the inconvenience or anything! GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.
This very thing
happened to my wheelchair in April of 2005 and I went to "Preferred
Medical" here in Tucson.
I am not too happy with them either for other reasons of fixing the chair but
the choice of vendors is limited. They told me that they could get me
in three days later and so of course I jumped on it.
They rigged the
wiring up so that it works temporarily until the parts come in which is
supposedly three weeks minimum. The three weeks is about up so I need
to call them soon as they never call me! They have been caught not
paying their bills so that is probably why it takes so long to get parts in.
I hate working with insurance companies and doctors.
Again, my chair had a problem… I call the repair
shop, they wont see me without a doc prescription, then an ok from the
insurance company.
My doc wont fax in a prescription until he sees me, yet he
can’t get me in until next wed.
So 6 days to see the doc so he will fax a prescription,.
2 days to get the ok from the insurance.
Then a few days to gat an appointment.
THEN, they just evaluate the chair to see what’s
wrong.
Then send to get and ok that the insurance will pay for
the parts.
Then wait for the parts to get here.
Then make an appointment to get it fixed.
That can be 2 weeks ti fix something.
I use to hate my insurance and the place in Seattle
that fixed my chair, now I miss them. I just made an appointment and went in.
They fixed me with a room full of parts they had in stock.
Then they billed my insurance. I was mad that if I wanted them to come to my
house, It might take 2 days.
