2007 has to be better!
With my Urologist retiring I ask him for a recommendations. WRONG!!
The man is about as arrogant as you can get and he is appalled that a
quad has an indwelling cathader for 40 years. That just is not
acceptable and he was sure that he will find a tumor. No one can have a
cath in that long and not have problems.
A routine cyso found a small mass in the bladder and was removed.
Four other areas were biopsied at the same time. One week later I
start to hemorrhage and was rushed to the hospital at midnight, sent home at
4:00AM, was transferred into bed started to settle, started to hemorrhage
again, the ambulance, still in the drive takes me back to the hospital.
The surgeon after irritations wants to give it 48 hours to see if further
flushing settles the bleeding, no go, another cysto.
Just before the second cysto he said he received the pathology report and
he informs us that I have bladder cancer, my bladder must be removed and I
need to have a diversion.
He said he couldn't find anything, cortises the areas, bleeding
stops.
He is now a scared puppy, informs me he is not going to do my surgery and
I will need to go to a teaching hospital. Asking for a recommendation,
he would not give one, simply said use the Internet to find one.
My wife and I felt like we were hit by a Mack Truck.
So we researched, went to Johns Hopkins, 2 hour drive, to find out the
doctor called in sick. They bent over backwards to fit me in and I saw a
doctor that looked like he was in his late20's early 30's. OK at least
we are seeing a doctor and can make an appointment with the head honcho
later. The first thing he said "Do I really want this surgery?"
Yeah right!
He said that there is not reason to rush into anything here, let him
review
the case, get the biopsies, do his own tests and see me in two
weeks. I reviewed his credentials on the net and the dr. is probably in
his 40's but appears to be better than the head of urology. Even has 2
patents on detecting and treating bladder cancer.
Two weeks later to JH and first saw an intern, of which the dr. kept
referring to as the expert, giving the man the respect he deserved. He
came in the room and said that he has one piece of good news. I DON'T HAVE
CANCER!!! The tumor was not cancer but was of low malignancy
potential. The bladder still may have problems after the tumor was
removed and may not heal enough to continue to support a foley, but that will
take 4-6 months.
Ten days ago I came out the office door after dark, the street light was
burnt out, I turned off the building light went forward and overshot the
concrete, did a flip and landed flat on my back. After 15 minutes my
aide comes, finds me and the neighbors help me into the chair. Feeling
lousy I went to the dr. to find out the right leg is broke above and below the
knee and left leg broke above the ankle.
This idiot wants to hard cast the leg and check it in 3-4 weeks.
No-No,
we will just have a soft cast and see my regular dr. in 5 days of which
this arrogant dr. was not happy, but it's not his legs. Well today
was
5 days, all
3 breaks doing well, thank you, and we are still soft casted.
I just can't believe an idiot that wants to hardcast a quads legs.
And this guy is the head of the practice! Another 4-6 weeks, we should
be back to normal, unless something else happens, but then again I'm entering
my depression time of year. Can't explain it, but I enter a depression
time from late October through February. Guess I'm just nuts!
Good-bye 2006.............
