I just realized that my 6 mile trip was one way and then I had somebody pick
me up at the mall later in the evening. It is just too hot most of the year
in Florida to make that trip very often. However, when my chair was quite a
bit faster, I could make the trip in one hour. I figured my chair was
driving over 7 mph since I was being held up by traffic, traffic lights, and
some degraded sidewalks. Now I'm probably be lucky if my chair does 5 1/2
mph. I guess I can't complain about an 11-year-old chair still operating
that well.
If only the new Peachtree system is as good as the old one, I would get a
new chair right away.

I decided to go on a long drive today, to see how far I could go.

They have a trail system though our city and neighboring cities they are
just fixing up. It used to be mostly a farming area in the desert, so it has
lots of canals. They paved a 10 foot wide path along 1 side for jogging,
bikes, etc. Dirt on the other side for horses. It starts by my house and I
followed it for 14 miles through 2 cities. I could have gone further, but it
crossed over railroad tracks. I might have been ok in going over them, but
it was in a quiet location and I did not want to get stuck. There was about
a 3 inch gap between the edge and the rails& With a low drained battery, I
did not want to risk it. It s a fun trail, the canal is maybe 20 feet wide
and has lots of fish in it. Many kinds, the grass carp are 3 feet long. The
trail connects a bunch of town parks, so I took my time and checked out the
parks as I went through. Though some of the trail is just threw commercial
development areas. After I was done, I didn t want to risk the drive back,
so I had called home to get picked up. That s the furthest I ve ever driven,
15 miles by the time I was finished. My chair has a mileage count on the LCD
panel.
