I tried long leg braces in '67. they ended at the waist in a big band
around my belly. I did not have enough function in my trunk or legs to swing
my
legs through and make walking practical. I did better without any braces at
all - at one point I could walk with crutches about 200 feet or so BUT..... I
was always on the brink of falling down if a knee wouldn't lock and stay. I
wish you well in your efforts.

They told me I wouldn't be functional at C4/5 with the braces like you'll
see in the films. You have to be C7 or lower. But they told me of a gal
that
was a C4/5 that used them to walk down the aisle with a walker on her
wedding day. Someone would have to put them on, help me into a standing
position
with a walker, Velcro my hands to the walker and I would learn to throw my hip
and pick up the walker to move forward. Hard for me to believe I could do
this at my level because right now I have no trunk support. For a paraplegic
the brace is at the waist, for a quad they brace you at the chest level.
