My gosh, I knew he had been a quad a long time and he was probably the
oldest that I know of, but I had no idea that he was injured in the 50s. I
did, however, meet a quadriplegic who was about the same level as I am
(C2-3) who was hurt in and some sort of accident during the last year of the
Korean War (1953). I haven't had any contact with him in the last nine
years, so I don't know if he has passed, but when I think of all he has gone
through it sends shivers down my spine.

Hi Wheels,

I agree with you on both counts. Unless I'm mistaken, his injury was
sustained while landing a plane in 1954, less than one year after I was
born. That is a lifetime of knowledge that he carries in his mind.
Whatever it is, I wish him well in all that he does in the future.

I wish that he would entertain coming back here with his knowledge and
sense of life.
Thanks Again,

About three years ago, I was diagnosed with a syrinx (syringomyelia) at
the site of my injury, which impinges on the pre-existing scar-tissue, and
is slowly shutting me down. I say "the slower, the better," but whatever
comes next may well be the third act of "Boyd's Saga." I wish you well, and
am extremely pleased that you remembered me.
God Bless,
