I have gotten to the point where I don't even like to refer to the day my accident happened as an anniversary. It is more of a milestone. However, on August 6 I was able to celebrate the 12th anniversary of being able to breathe without a ventilator assistance postaccident. Although I didn't do anything special, I made sure I let everyone know that it was a big day for me. I didn't used to celebrate this day, but it is truly one of the more memorable days in my life.
