Stem Cell Newsletter
Dear Dana,
This is our last e-news from Americans for Stem Cell Therapies & Cures (ASCTC)
as you know us. Read on for more on the metamorphoses of both ASCTC
and the
Alliance for Stem Cell Research. Please also see information about two
outstanding events. We hope to see you at both!
Warm regards,
Amy Daly, RN
Americans for Cures Metamorphoses
We are delighted to announce that the Alliance for Stem Cell
Research is now officially Americans for Cures Foundation. Additionally,
Americans for Stem Cell Therapies & Cures, the legacy organization of
Proposition 71, has been renamed Americans for Cures Action Network.
Americans for Cures Foundation is a 501(c)3
organization (with an educational focus) and Americans for Cures Action Network
is
a 501(c)4 (more directly involved in political action.)
Whether working up close and personal in the political
arena, or sharing the excitement of stem cell research breakthroughs, Americans
for Cures are advocates in action, fighting for those who suffer. Americans for
Cures,
people-powered advocacy for stem cell research, gives voice to the pro-cures
movement.
We are grateful to have your partnership. Watch for our first Foundation e-news
in the coming weeks.
Save the Date - State of Stem Cell Advocacy Forum

Americans for Cures Foundation is partnering with
Michael J. Fox to create the first annual
national forum on stem cell research issue advocacy. Our State of Stem Cell
Advocacy Forum 2007, to be held at the UCSF Mission Bay Community Center in San
Francisco on November 10th & 11th,
will provide stem cell research activists from around the country with the
tools they need to make their voices heard.
Keynote speakers are two champions of change for
stem cell research policy: Michael J. Fox, who successfully made stem cell
research a campaign issue in 2006, and Robert Klein, who successfully led the
fight for $3
billion in research funding. This event will provide a unique perspective on
how stem cell research policy affects our society, and what patient and
political advocates can do to move this life-saving research forward. The State
of Stem Cell Advocacy
Forum will provide information and inspiration
for those who will be in the thick of the stem cell battles in the upcoming
year. Registration information will be found in our upcoming email. If you just
can't wait, email us at [EMAIL PROTECTED] (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]) or call
650-812-9303
to reserve your spot.
Stem Cell Summit!
The Stem Cell Summit (on October 2-3, in Boston, Massachusetts)
promises to be a veritable cornucopia of scientific and political information.
Produced
by great friend of the movement Bernard Siegel of the Genetics Policy
Institute (GPI), the Summit brings together GPI, The Harvard Stem Cell
Institute, and the same Burrill
and Company
who put on the outstanding Stem Cell Meeting earlier this year.

The Stem Cell Summit will take place at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
Attendees will have
unprecedented access to the stem cell world's leading thinkers and
decision-makers.
The topmost tier of guests includes scientists Ian Wilmut,
George Daley, and Kevin Eggan, along with warrior patient advocates such as
Tricia
Brooks and our own Don Reed. Please join us for this one of a kind Summit.
