I'm lucky enough to have my dad who is there to help me but that is only if I
have issues with my van or bills. He does pay my car insurance for me for my
bday and xmas presents since I pay every 6 months and it falls right around
those times. I would never ask him for luxuries when I cant handle my bills
all of the time.

Subject: [QUAD-L] Affording things

I was wondering how you folks that qualify for Medicaid and/or SSI (whereby you
can only have so much money in your checking account, assets... cash or
otherwise, etc. etc. etc.) are able to afford some of the better things in
life?
For example, when GHenry recently asked about wireless microphones... this is
just one example out of thousands and thousands of things that are pricey.
Do you just go without or do family members help you with such purchases? Or
really nice friends! Say, for example, that you wanted a brand-new Sony Bravia
flat screen TV that is 46 inches. Or a brand-new MP3 player that is worth it
($200+) and a myriad of other examples.

Just curious!
