Bill, I'm open to hearing about advances they have made. Seating systems that are available. Climbing and outdoors functions. Battery sizes are important to me because I have had to be pushed by a mall scooter and the chair began with a full charge. I would like a wheelchair that could climb stairs to places I have been excluded from for so long. My problem with many of the ultra cheap chairs is their inability to free themselves from a bad spot in the sidewalk or hold a stop on a steep grade. It is important that wheelchairs do not become traffic hazards or cause harm to others because the engineering was copied visually and not tested for safety. Many chairs that look like high end chairs become dangerous in situations and like my invacare, there merely self destruct after a few years.(It is a high ranked chair in Medicares' books) It is having stuff fail on a weekly basis after 4 and a half years. I always hope to have a backup chair when I get a new one. unfortunately, My used chairs are only valuable to a place in Louisville, KY. that refurbishes them and gives them to people that have slipped through the safety net. Locally, In Cincinnati, Ohio, Medmart carries Pride chairs. Unfortunately, these are the very last people you would want to buy anything from. It is common for them to take weeks to fix pride Jazzy's. My chair has always been repaired at home. There are more bad DME's than there are good ones, but no one seems to want to bring this up.

I have them on my Quantum 600. Bill C6 Incomplete since 7/20/68 Age 57 Leesburg, FL Life is too short for long pity parties. I don't think you can even get a peremobile in Ohio using Medicaid. On the other end of the spectrum, they want you to prove why you cannot use a Pride Jazzy or a Quicky. I understand Pride is working on a tilt in space system and a recline, Maybe they will revive the Everest & Jennings name. (They tried to stick a paraplegic into a hopped up 4wheel scooter over at the rehab center) I feel any upturn in Medicaid will have to come from the low end products outperforming expectations. The space shuttle works most of the time and it is built by the lowest bidders. I've always felt the quickies were a low cost quality product. Anyone else got any feedback on wheelchairs that Medicaid has funded or won't fund. (You aren't suppose to say they won't pay for stuff unless they have been rejected and no product is rejected solely because of price.) What BS! Someone set me straight? We spent 70 years spouting about how stupid Communists were with 5 year plans and now we go out of our way to create a health care system that imitates an economic plan that failed for the exact same lack of ingenuity and practicality.
