I wore contact lenses before my accident. I had to go back to wearing
glasses after the accident and absolutely hated it, as they got dirty so
often, and/or steamed up. I put it off for years, as I was scared that I
would get blinded or something. I went in to see the eye doctor about
having Lasik surgery and they make you watch this video that kind of scares
you into not wanting to do it. I left, not wanting to do it and then in the
car ride by the time I got home, I decided that it was important. I told
myself that I don't know how many more years I have left, and I just wanted
to go for it. I just needed to go with the best doctor I could find. I got
a recommendation of someone that had done the surgery since it had started
years ago and was very well respected. This doctor worked for the Casey Eye
Institute in Portland, Oregon. Anyway, I did go ahead and I had it done
years ago and am very glad I did. I asked a lot of questions to others that
had had it done, so I knew exactly what to expect. A machine does so much
of it for the most part and it goes very, very quickly. If anyone would
like to know more details-- I would be happy to talk to you.
