Happy 18th.

I've chosen not to celebrate the anniversary of my accident, but I am going
to really celebrate the anniversary of my first full 24 hours off the
ventilator.  That was four months of hell that I never want to repeat.  I am
truly indebted to the respiratory staff at the Tampa VA for having the
initiative to wean me even after all of the pulmonary doctors thought there
would be no way I would ever breathe again.  I'll be sending out thank you
cards and flowers.  13 years of air.


That reminds me of the sign I used to have in the back of my van window.
"Sex is like air; it's not really important until you're not getting any."
