Happy 18th.
I've chosen not to celebrate the anniversary of my accident, but I am going
to really celebrate the anniversary of my first full 24 hours off the
ventilator. That was four months of hell that I never want to repeat. I am
truly
indebted to the respiratory staff at the Tampa VA for having the initiative to
wean me even after all of the pulmonary doctors thought there would be no
way I would ever breathe again. I'll be sending out thank you cards and
flowers. 13 years of air.

Thank you! You've had it tuff! I don't celebrate either, just acknowledge
another year done. Unlike you though I've had much more freedom from this quad
stuff. I'm happy for you that you no longer need the vent!
Dianna
