Hey Tod,
I was under the impression that methanamine is a generic for mendelamine.  I
have an SP, and I take 1 g twice daily, along with 1 g twice daily of vitamin
C.  I also take Detrol LA once a day to combat any bladder spasms.
Take care,

Hi John, Other Q's:

I *was* taking "methanamine" that has the efects you mentioned (i.e.
breaking down to formaldehyde in an acidfic environment). High protien, prunes
and cranbery juce ar supposed to lower urine pH. Brand name was Hiprex.

My uro-doc discontinued it due to the SP. Said th bladder needs to hold urine
with a pH f 5.5 or less to work. The SP didn't allow enough urine to stay
long enough to help. pH won't get low enough to turn methanamine to
produce enough formaldehyde.

But, Hey... I'd still check on it. Everyone's diifferent, and maybe
"mendelamine" is too, right?

Best!

before trying it. Vinegar can be a growth medium to some bacteria. I'd have
to own a really strong microscope before I used a flush substance that
wasn't sterile. Vinegar is great, but it is not sterile. You can clean
stuff with it around the house, but If you have a home care nurse, how much
will you bet that she didn't just leave a child with a ragging infection.

might do better sitting on some vibrating device while flushing, so it gets
more sediment into solution and out. I'm all alone laughing.
> Do watch your pH levels and try mendelamine (sp). It is possible to take
to much vitamin C, but it sure isn't easy to do. If you take Mendelamine
and check the pH of your urine, so it stays acidic, it combines in your bladder
and becomes a mild formaldahide. Acidic urine slows stone formation, also.
