Silver has mild anti-biotic qualities. It was used for a long time as an anti
biotic. it is illegal to sell it and tout it is anti biotic, but a lot of folks
swear by the silver catheters. In tests, it is suppose to show inhibited growth
of bacteria. A lot of people on here use colloidal silver for the same reasons,
including wounds. Be sure to get the "real stuff". I don't think it can harm
you as long as you use it as directed.

I think the silver ones are much better, certainly much softer. No way can I
use those hard silicone ones. I start sweating the second they are inserted.

I'm trying to find another catheter my doctor doesn't like the silicone
catheter I've been using. My UTI's are better, but they are so stiff. He says
could be some of my problems when changing it and stuff.
So, are the silver coated better and less stiff?

How many of you that use a Foley catheter use the silver coated ones
I use the Bardex IC (Infection Control) 16fr. It says it has a silver coating.
I tried the Latex clear one, but it was so stiff, I was sweating within minutes.
