One can not and should not forget the contributions of Dr Jerrold Petrofsky,
formerly of Ohio's Wright State and what he endured for years with the
label, Dr Frankenstein, during his earlier studies of FES. Today, FES is
considered as standard protocol in SCI Rehab. What was the name of the movie
about
his discovery called?

Best Wishes

In the mid-90's I opened an outpatient rehab center here in Atlanta for SCI.
We had the FES bikes and Stimulators as well as alot of other specialized
equipment. I enjoyed being able to ride for miles and get a good workout. At
the time, Shepherd Center offered no extensive outpatient rehab and would
not refer patients to us because they didn't believe in the FES. Not sure why
though, in 6 months it had me off my ass and in a walker. We closed the
center after a few years of battling insurance companies. I would basically
let
anyone come to rehab whether they could pay or not. Not a great business
model I know...lol

They had a lot of luck back in the 1980's with FES at Wright State. They
were using quads and paras. The Dr. in charge married his top patient so they
gave him a fellowship to the dark side of the moon. I know some of you are
also
thinking, "Deja Vous". (sp)

Sure hope it leads to something this time.
Not just a video game or a new weapon.
