Hi Dan... ... And Happy New Year '09 to the whole Family/List of Q's! Yes, my "home phone" is a land line.
My cell phone is a "whole 'nother" story... My cell phone "use" (more like carrying) began 16 years ago when BellSouth offered a plan for folks with disabilities or special needs who had a letter from a doc stating they might require low-use emergency access to a phone. It was ~ $14.95/mo ($18 now) with 30 min. free. After the free 30, minutes were (and still are) costly at $0.33 peak, $0.18 off-peak times. Well, I kept that plan and it was honored when BellSouth became or was purchased by CellularOne, then someone else, then (and still) Alltel. Later, a deal came along offering 500 free night & weekend minutes/mo, at NO extra charge, for as long as I kept the plan... So I took it. They don't offer this plan anymore --and haven't for nearly 10 years-- BUT they agreed to allow me to keep the plan... until I change plans... I can't go back to it if I change. But they said, after all, I've been a "loyal" customer for 190-some months! ...the most they've ever seen, is what they tell me. So, with the 30 free peak minutes/mo and 500 off-peak, I can't remember the last time I paid for airtime! With my job as a full-time teacher, I don't get much time to make daytime/peak calls anyway... at least not without setting a bad example for my students who aren't allowed to use theirs at school (yeah, right!!). I love going to the malls or RadioShack and having all the dealers try to talk me into a new deal with them. Nobody can match what I have so far... I keeping it! So that's my story for today... if anyone cared to know. Don't know why I wrote so extensively about it. But I figure you all must be pretty bored if you made it this far! (LOL) ...and that's likely the reason I kept typing... bored today, so far. ANYWAYS... YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFULL START TO YOUR NEW YEAR! STAY SAFE, WORK ON YOUR RESOLUTIONS IF YOU MADE 'EM, AND KEEP ALL THE GOOD THINGS IN MIND AS THE LET THE BAD FALL BEHIND YOU! BEST TO ALL OF YOU... MY EXTENDED BRETHREN!
