I used to be able to void on my own. Then a few years ago all of a
sudden I couldn't. So Urologist suggested self intermittent cathing.
I can bearly move one arm and I don't have 24 hour care. So, then he
suggested a Foley which I had for about a year but it gave me
excruciating pain in my right hip which is the side I lean on. My Uro
said he wasn't surprised as a Foley is in contact with a lot of
nerves which could be the cause of the pain. That's when he suggested
the Supra Pubic. I got a second opinion from a Uro at Mass General
and he concurred.

Sorry, I came in on the tail end of the conversation. Did you have
a Foley catheter before your supra pubic catheter ? I have a Foley
catheter and I'm thinking about getting a supra pubic. A really
good friend of mine, who's a nurse, told me that my urethra will
erode from sitting on it all the time. She suggested I get a supra
pubic. I don't know if this is true or not. Anyone have any suggestions
