when little kids ask me what happened, i tell them i told my mother 'no' when 
she asked me to do something.
for adults i usually say, 'i thought my wife said 'stand up' but she really 
said 'shut up'.

people always ask me the same thing and when i say i've been shot they start to 
ask more questions so i just got use to saying when i was 17 i was shot by my x 
boyfriend.not that i have to explain,but i don't mind since i am a speak about 
violence in community.

People always ask, "What's wrong with you?", or "Car accident?". Had to become 
immune to my sad story, especially since my reply, "I was shot.", causes mixed 
reactions. Mostly, "What did you do to get shot?"
