Tom, what did you think about RIC upon your return for rehab? Not
everyone has access to Northwestern Hospital and RIC. Do you know Mercedes
Raun
with Chicago Chapter of SCIA.

Best Wishes

I had a minor flap surgery in july and spent two weeks at Northwestern
then two weeks at RIC. I as amazed at how much strength that I had lost. My
'up' time was severely restricted. I used to be 'up' 12-16 hrs a day-no
problem. I'm now at 6hrs then 1 hr off then back up. I'm using a Roho where I
was just using a foam cushion before. I just finished my
outpatient PT/OT today. Now i have to put what they did into a new daily
routine. I'm c6/7, 39 years post injury. The flap was the first for me. Best
of Luck. listen to the dr., nurse, aides, anyone who soundslike they're
giving you good advise.

Good luck with your surgery Veranda. I had a wound 'down there' that
took 2 surgeries to close. It was a long, trying time from start to finish.
I hope yours goes better.

I have my first flap surgery tomorrow and I am so upset i've been on a
wound vac since 8-28 thinking it would be close by now. they almost called
surgery off monday cause outside looked good until they looked at the inside
side and said it needed 2 still be closed. they say i will be in hospital 2
wks then a ltac unit for 2 more wks. i have cried everyday since i found
out i'd have to be down more time then i have already. So depressed.
