Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm a C5-C6 with calcified-curled fingers and
decent range and strength in both arms.

I take lots and lots of pictures, and use both hands to shoot: Left holding the
mini tripod (for regular, panorama shots) while I press the shutter-button with
the tip of my right index finger. For sideways shots (portrait), i put my left
fingers around the body of the camera so the lens (sticking out about an inch)
rests on the lower-half of my left index and the mini-tripod rests on my hand
and wrist. I then use the knuckle of my right middle finger to press the
shutter-button.

For me to do it one-handed, I would have to use my mono-pod as the camera
mount. I would extend it to rest on the floor between/behind my feet, and
steady it against one of my legs, so i could press the shutter-button. It
would be tricky, but do-able.

Other than the 6-inch tripod I mentioned, I've had no success with tripods
(unless they are short-legged and on a table). My mono-pod works great, though
I like my little "Elph" with the 6-inch tripod best.
