The annual Council conference for  People with Disabilities takes place 
LESS THAN ONE MONTH FROM TODAY Nov.  16-17 in Indianapolis at the Hyatt Regency

2. TAKE THE “OUR VOICE …OUR FUTURE”  ONLINE SURVEY TODAY! (deadline Oct 30)
The Arc of Indiana is excited  to share survey results gathered at our 2009 
Conference, "Our Voice … Our  Vision … Our Future," and invites those who 
could not attend the conference  to let their voices be heard by taking the 
survey online.  If you live  in Indiana, and you have a family member with a 
developmental disability, or  you are a self-advocate, or a professional in 
the field of developmental  disabilities, please take a few minutes to 
complete the online survey.  Taking the survey is easy. Go to:

News Feed. You can also see  the results so far!  Our goal is 1,000 people 
participating by   October 31st  when the survey will close. Let your voice 
be  heard!  Please take the online survey today, and share this opportunity  
with other family members, self-advocates and professionals. A final report, 
 that will include combined results from the online survey and the October  
1st conference, will be released after November 15, 2009. This valuable  
information will be shared with the Governor's Council for People with  
Disabilities, state officials, organization leaders, providers, and family  
support groups to shape future decisions.

3. MEDICAID  WAIVER Guide (YELLOW BOOK) ORDERS
When requesting more than 50  Medicaid Home and Community-Based Waiver 
Programs, Consumer Guides (also  known as the yellow book) the Council needs at 
least a 30 day notice.   This will allow sufficient time to duplicate the 
booklets and get them  shipped to you (shipping usually take at least 3 days). 
 If you are  having a training, or special event that you plan to 
distribute the  booklets, please remember to allow sufficient time when 
ordering.  To

EEOC's Notice of Proposed  Rulemaking for the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 The 
first Audio Conference of  the 2009-2010 Season will feature Sharon Rennert, 
Senior Attorney with the  U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission 
(EEOC), to discuss and answer  questions about the proposed EEOC regulations.

regulations will be published  during the week of September 21 in the Federal

6. FAMILY  ADVOCATE CONSULTANT POSITION OPEN 
Info from Ask: The Indiana  Community Integrated Systems of Services (IN 
CISS) Project is searching for  a parent of child/children with special health 
care
needs to advocate for  CYSHCN and their families while working within a
multidisciplinary team,  i.e. medical professionals, volunteers,
community groups, and families of  children with special needs.
Experience navigating state and local  government systems, accessing a
wide variety of services and supports,  knowledge of statewide and local
family and disability organizations and  an understanding of the Medical
Home and Family-Centered Care is a must.  Position located in
Indianapolis.

7.  SPECIAL EDUCATION MICRO GRANT - ENTER BY OCT 31
Special Education  works, one student at a time. Teachers know the impact 
of these individual  efforts is far reaching. Take five minutes to apply for 
this microgrant to  share how your work, project or idea can make a positive 
impact for special  education students. Your project may inspire other 
teachers who collectively  can make a difference in the lives of more students 
with special needs.  Enter by October 31st, and then rally as many votes as 
you can. The projects  with the most community votes receive $200 and a Flip 
Video camera to share  the project in action.  Applicants must be educators

8.  INDIANA COLLABORATIVE CONFERENCE ON AGING, INDIANAPOLIS, NOV  10-11
Hello.  I wanted to make you aware of the Indiana  Collaborative Conference 
on Aging.  The Indiana Collaborative  Conference on Aging is taking place 
in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 10  & 11th, Tuesday and Wednesday at the 
Marriott East hotel.  There  are four curriculum tracks including Health & 
Wellness, Care &  Support, Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia and Aging 
Veteran Issues. The  flyer is attached to this email for your convenience.  I 
have 
also  attached a word document, in case that is easier.  CEU's are  
available.

Transcultural C.A.R.E. Associates, a private consultation service which  
focuses on clinical, administrative, research, and educational issues in  
transcultural health care and mental health.  She has worked with  managed 
health 
care organizations, acute and long term medical centers,  outpatient 
healthcare organizations, academic institutions, community  outreach centers, 
faith-based organizations and the federal government to  enhance the level of 
cultural competence among their employees and health  care professionals.
