Hi Daniel
I am writing back to you so I can give you more information to help you. I like
the webpage
http://www.apparelyzed.com/  .  It has information on it about almost
everything those of us who are quads may need.

I also found information about laxatives below. You stated you have been a quad
for 10 years. Has this been a problem for most of this time?  The article
states laxative use on a regular basis will cause your bowel to stop working
well, and you will keep needing stronger and stronger laxatives.
It sounds like you need to try more natural means of elimination. If you cannot
get to a doctor, you may want to try some of the suggestions they have here.
Drinking prune juice or orange juice, using pressure or rubbing manually,
eating more fiber, etc.
What to avoid:REGULAR USE OF STIMULANT LAXATIVES
These include bisacodyl (Dulcolax) tablets, phenolphthalein (Ex-Lax), cascara,
senna and magnesium citrate. Laxative use on a regular basis will cause your
bowels to become dependent on them. When this happens the bowel will not work
well without the laxative, and eventually the "lazy bowel" that results will
require more and stronger laxatives to work at all. An occasional small dose of
a mild laxative, such as Milk of Magnesia or an herbal laxative, can be used to
treat constipation if other measures have not worked. (We recommend that you
use no more than three doses per month.)
