I've never heard of it causing any problem. Ask the guy at the parts house. 
It's one of those bolt on upgrades. A 2000 should be simple. It is certainly 
worth asking about since some are managed by the on board computer.  (It should 
be easy on a 2000)

would it hurt my electronics to put a larger alternator on?
