Supposedly, we have 4 DME's in the Reno area-one who only deals in Permobils,
one does not do a electric chairs, one who is getting RE certified in Medicare,
and Med Tech, who has to be the ultimate in poor service, customer rudeness,
greedy, and total incompetency. So I guess no matter where one goes it is
difficult to get good service. I have been private pay most of my time in a
chair, and except for the dealer in Carson City who is getting RE certified
they are all a nightmare to deal with. Even though it is 50 miles away we will
go down there rather than deal with Med Tech here in Reno. Med Tech wanted to
order a new chair for me when I first became eligible for Medicare, but before
they would even fit me they wanted $5000 deposit upfront, even though I have a
secondary insurance, and when I reminded them that that was not legal they told
me not to bother dealing with them anymore for anything, that they would refuse
to deal with me. Luckily for me they did it in a text message, so we contacted
better business bureau and included a copy of the text message, now of course I
am really persona non Grata :-). Do I Care? Not a bit. Oh yes, the request
for $5000 up front was in writing also, so a copy of that went to Medicare and
I hear via of the Grapevine that that was a little problem for them.
The company in Carson is fantastic, and I am so grateful to have found them. I
sent everybody I can to them, and now that they're getting RE certified in
Medicare I am happy happy happy.
