Tom,

I use a Roho Commode Cushion and it DOES need cleaning every so often (or more).

As I've seen others mention, I also use our roll-in shower and hand-held spayer
to get in all the crevices. I don't like anti-bacterial soaps just because of
the whole "bacterial resistance mutation" thing (a whole other discussion!!).
Instead, to have a nice, fresh-smelling seat I use a few squirts of my
shampoo... Aussie, to be specific, but I know Pert works well, too.

The main ingredient in any detergent (dish, laundry, hand, whatever else) is
sodium laurel sulfate. It breaks down any oily or greasy residue like that
contained in perspiration (and spilled food). It also breaks down fatty, lipid
cell membranes so that the living things on it -- that's what causes most bad
odors -- also get destroyed, too.

Then you can either towel it dry or let it air dry. (I do both... air drying
in Arizona is better than ANY towel can do. And sometimes faster)

Have fun and stay clean!
Best wishes,
--Tod
