I've had a bounder for more than 20 years. I always get the ones with the large rear wheels. I like that model because if you get a flat in one of your rear tires, anybody - including my PCA's can change it. It's just like changing a bike tire. I've never had a chair with small drive wheels. It looks like it would be a major job to fix a flat. Any of you have experience with these? As for the speed, I tried 11.5 mph and for me it was too fast! So, I went back to a slightly slower speed. When you are going 11.5 mph and you hit a bump -- it hurts! The drive belts do stretch after awhile but you can get new ones at any auto shop for $18.

The "21st Century" was my first power chair back in 1982, it had the big rear wheels back then. I think you can still get those, but they are unattractive I think. Now called the Bounder. I now prefer front/mid wheel drive chairs just because they are easier to manage indoors and in my van. These 21st chairs are pretty big. BUT, I now think that is the chair I want again. It is the fastest chair I know of, 11.5 mph. It has fewer electric parts to go bad and belt driven still. I'm not sure if the summers in Phoenix will be bad on the belts, stretching them in the heat, etc. I want a faster chair...
