Happy Birthday, Bobbie. I hope you are able to get out of bed and remain out whenever you want to very soon.
Joan - I don't have any grandchildren, but I completely identify with and echo each of your other points below. My glass is way more than half-full! Happy Birthday Bobbie Stuck in bed is not fun, but it made me think about what I have to be thankful for as a quad. 1: I am alive, relatively healthy, and it sure beats the alternative. :-) 2: as I have gotten older I have also grown more patient (not always) 3: because I cannot take care of my grandchildren while they still are babies, when they are here I spend much more time just observing them and enjoying each little improvement, I got a bye-bye wave to day. I was always too busy just to watch. 4: the marvelous people who have come into my life that I would not have met otherwise. 5: technology, technology. I was already using a computer in 1990 when I broke my neck. As a C4 with no movement below shoulders technology is fantastic. Speech recognition does have its flaws, but it sure does beat typing each and every word with a mouthstick. 6: the innate goodness of the majority of people who offer to help when I am out and about. Most people Are so helpful that it makes up for the nerdy minorities. 7: The Sun! 8: Family 9: Friends, especially the very handy ones who have learned how to maintain my wheelchair, my ECU, an all other items that makes life easier for me. 10: and the fact that lying in bed usually does come to an end. It took me 13 months and I was extremely glad to get out. Hope you have very many more, and that this time spent in bed is over soon. Joan
