Actually Tom... that is the best idea and I too support that. However
when emergency conditions persist, one has to look n see it it applies to
them. Nothing like being stuck on the open road or in a parking lot during a
snow n ice storm and the ramp won't lift and door not closing.
Go Bears!

Hello-
Whatever diagnosis you've received could not be accurately given without
knowing Year, Make, Model and type of IMS Conversion.
It sounds like you oughta take it to your closest mobility dealer for
repair and preventative service check up. Yes, I do work for a mobility dealer
and yes, I'm a quad but I don't take my watch to a plumber for repair
either. Have it looked at always before the severe seasons. Also, there are
some
IMS units that Braun doesn't support. Send me the VIN and I'll confirm it
for you.
Happy Holidays!!
Tom

For those who are not mobility challenged, look at the outside of your van
towards the rear panel. The is an rectangle opening for the door side
cable slide. Tucked in the back of the opening about 1-2 inches is the micro
switch, with a tiny nipple on it. Its metal and travels in and out, except
when its frozen when it sticks closed. The nice thing about it today is
all new vans have a similar micro switch with a boot the covers the nipple
and prevents icing. Braun/IMS, does not provide the new switch for the
older applications. Shame, eh?
I hope this helps. (bill is in the mail as I type)

i replace the door contacts regularly because i live on a dirt road that
causes them to wear. do you know where this switch is located? is it on the
door because there is a black rubber thing around the pillars but it wears
out quicky as well. i'm about 1 1/2 hrs from the dealer
the ramp problem is a new one though. it goes out fine but doesn't want to
lift up to close. sometimes it works fine however. i'm guessing it needs
silicone spray as well.....
thanks

There a limit switch that is sticking in the wet, humid, freezing weather.
IMS should have used a rubber boot on that switch but they did not. Your
Braun Dealer can show you exactly were it is. Spray enough silicone so
it doesn't freeze. When the micro switch is in the closed position it
thinks the door IS closed. Check the door contacts on the B pillar to be sure
they are not corroded.

Anyone have problems in the winter with your door not closing completely?
It gets cold and my van's door and ramp stop functioning correctly.
