Stem Cell Research and Successful Application is still in its infancy .
Two weeks ago, CBS Nework's 60 Minutes air'd one doctor with a dubious
background offering stem cell for $150,000.00 cash to anyone with an SCI, MD,
MS or ALS with a warranty. He assured all of his patients that they would be
out or never in a wheelchair again. This doctor had several dozen patients,
willing to sell their houses and cash in their savings for this American
Doctor. The doctor was a scam artist, working with another quasi medical
person who called himself a doctor. 60 Minutes proved them both wrong and no
one got their monies returned. The recognized universities who are doing
research in Stem Cell Therapy state that their are 200 clinics in North America
offering their services to anyone with a fist full of cash.

Hence, if anyone is considering, make sure that you can trace the medical
history of the doctor who makes claims........

Geron labs is conducting a human embryonic stem cell trial this
year. It is a small trial 14 patients. The patients can only be two weeks out
from their injury. There was a lot of other criteria involved. They were
looking to see if it was safe and if any of those patients developed tumors. I
haven't followed up on it, but what you heard may be associated with that
trial.

                Hi All,

I remember reading this past year that there was a parapelgic
who had embryonic stem-cells injected into his injury site. This was the first
human trial using embryonic stem-cells.I have not heard any news on this trial.

Did anyone else hear anything about this?

                Paul
