I tried putting a lumbar support behind my back and a while ago and unfortunately it doesn't feel the same for me. My posture is really good though. I have worn an abdominal Binder religiously since I was injured and is itself significantly. The only problem I have is a slight curvature of my spine to the right and this is because I didn't get my old chair repaired when it should have. The driving mechanism was pulling to the left, so the fact that my body would lean slightly to the right but everything in order. My was I in a lot of pain when they repaired the chair and everything was even once again. I'm still having difficulties with my right shoulder and the left side of my neck.
I say whatever works, go for it.
