Actually, there is a shingles vaccine and while not 100% effective, it is recommended for people over 50 and/or those with compromised immune systems, even if you have already had shingles. Of course, it's always best to consult with your physician.

Its also called Senior Measles too. No one likes it whether one is young or old. There is no prevention and once exposed, rest, some meds and lotions may help relieve the itchiness.
