Hi group. I have never posted here but usually read and follow the post. A lot of great topics and interesting debates. This particular topic is of personal interest and one that I felt I should share. I'm a C7 complete quad for 22 years. I cannot tolerate a temperature greater than 82° for much more than 20 min. or I overheat in a hurry. Quads are referred to as having poikilothermia. Meaning we have a tendency to adjust our temperature to that of the temperature around us. I would agree with the statements below regarding pneumonia and cause of death, but overheating can be a serious condition that is often not discussed during the rehabilitation process and learned the hard way sitting in in the sun the 1st summer after a spinal injury. Therefore, I'm including this link of an interview that describes why this happens. I hope this helps, stay cool and healthy.
