Urge your U.S Senator to sign on to the Dear Colleague letter by Friday, July 13th! Dear Reeve Foundation Supporter,
We need your help. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) supports the Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) through the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD). Before having access to the PRC, people living with spinal cord injury and paralysis had nowhere to go to find the resources, services and programs necessary to live the quality of life they deserved. Now, over 500,000 individuals impacted by paralysis are using the services provided by the PRC. Right now, the PRC and other critical disability programs supported through the NCBDDD are in great risk. For the second year in a row, CDC has put forward a budget that recommends consolidating funding for all these disability programs versus funding them all individually. Funding these programs in this way could result in a reduction, or possible elimination, of the PRC and other critical disability services. A letter is being circulated in the U.S. Senate asking the Director of the CDC to not move forward with consolidation until the CDC can evaluate the impact these proposed changes will have on the individuals who depend upon them. We need our U.S. Senators to sign onto this letter so we can show CDC the importance of the Paralysis Resource Center. How you can help: CONTACT your U.S. Senator NOW and ask them to sign onto this letter before Friday, July 13th.
